Alliance for Better Housing

Established in 1994, the Alliance for Better Housing (ABH) focuses on affordable housing for residents in the southern part of Chester County PA. Its programs include housing development, housing counseling, tenant services and community revitalization. The agency offices are located just outside the Borough of Kennett Square, but serves the needs of low-income, working families throughout Southern Chester County.


Core Services Include:

Housing Counseling : Provides one– on –one financial education and helps families purchase their first home.

Tenant Services

Provides tenant services such as youth programs, Homework Club and health education for residents. ABH does not own or manage these properties.


Community Revitalization

Promotes resident involvement and empowerment to create a vital, vibrant community.

Commonwealth Workforce Development

The Commonwealth Workforce Development System (CWDS) provides access to Pennsylvania workforce development and independent living services provided by the Departments of Labor & Industry and Public Welfare. Job seekers and other individuals can create résumés and match their skills, requirements and backgrounds with job openings. Employers use CWDS to find qualified job applicants.


Coatesville Center for Community Health (CCCH)

CCCH is the home of eight health care and social service agencies all devoted to the support and care of families.

The agencies include:
  • Chester County Cares
  • Chester County Health Department – WIC Program
  • Community Impact Legal Services
  • Domestic Violence Center of Chester County
  • Family Service of Chester County
  • La Comunidad Hispana
  • Maternal and Child Health Consortium – Healthy Start Program
  • Planned Parenthood of Chester County

The Center’s mission is to increase access to health and human services for the Coatesville community through the co-location and integration of services and programs. All services are provided under one roof within city limits and near public transportation. Bilingual and bicultural staff members are available, therefore eliminating cultural and linguistic barriers to care. The eight tenant agencies work together on interrelated projects so the varied needs of the community can be addressed in a ‘one-stop-shopping’ format. This removes many of the barriers residents face in obtaining health and human services care.


Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley (CCCS)

Founded in 1966, Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley (CCCS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit community service organization providing a wide variety of counseling services and educational programs designed to empower individuals—of all economic levels—financially, and to help them before, during or after a period of financial difficulty.


CCCS’ mission is to positively impact individuals, familes and communities through comprehensive consumer credit education, confidential counseling, asset building and debt reduction programs without regard to economic status. CCCS’ primary concern is providing you with the best and most realistic options to help you get back on track financially. CCCS does not sell products nor are we affiliated with any financial institutions.


Family Service of Chester County

A Place for Families and Individuals to Grow. Since 1947, Family Service has helped families and individuals in Chester County, Pennsylvania to grow in times of personal difficulty and to thrive during life's challenges. Family Service is an accredited counseling and human service agency. They serve people of all ages, background and income levels.
